Members of IGG bring their skills and talents to bear in all aspects of their lives. Skills are things you can do well because you have practiced them or you have a natural ability. The skills we gain from Girl Guides are skills for life — skills that you can transfer to other aspects of your life — at home, in your community, with your network of people and in your workplace.
These skills are sought-after in many work situations and society in general needs more citizens to have these skills to develop a more just and equitable world. You can also use this Checker to help identify the skills you need to work on.
This short fun video demonstrates the types of transferable life skills our members gain through our programme and activities. Now that you are familiar with some of the most transferable skills that employers like to see, it is useful to record the ones you have developed the most and those not yet developed. Plan what you could do to improve these skills. This website uses cookies to improve your experience.

Guiding is all about life skills enabling them to make a difference in their homes, communities and country. The Guiding structure in Pakistan is based on democratic principles to provide opportunities to all young members to learn and take responsibilities during their weekly meetings of Guides companies. The Girl Guides program lays stress on community development projects by giving girls the opportunity to learn about health, nutrition, environment and economic uplift through different activities.
Membership of Pakistan Gil Guides Association is open to all girls and young women to different background irrespective of cast, creed and religion. A Girl Guide accepts the Promise and the Law based on spiritual values, personal development and commitment to helping others.
The program is delivered through interactive non formal methods using guiding techniques. Outdoor activities, especially camping, are often the highlight of Guiding for many girls. Camping can greatly enhance girls program by taking advantage of opportunities for outdoor adventures. They can explore and discover the wonders of nature, developing their appreciation of the world around them. They can learn technical skills that will allow them to be comfortable and confident outdoors as they learn to protect and use natural resources wisely.
This contributed to not only a heightened and strengthened international scouting and guiding experience, but it also raised the awareness and profile of the movement. Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting became known to the International Council and, for the first time, groups began to plan trips abroad, with the First World Camp organized to coincide with the Third International Conference, in , Foxlease, UK, and brought 1, girls and young women together from 40 countries.
As the Movement grew and expanded, country representatives began to feel that it was time to create something more solid and binding and the idea of forming a world association was proposed after the 4th World Conference in The founder of the Movement, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, sought the opinions of all known Girl Guide and Girl Scout organizations and asked them to consider the proposition. It was decided that the newly founded World Association would hold elections to determine a World Committee, of which Lord and Lady Baden-Powell, and the Director of the World Bureau, would be ex-officio members.
International Conferences now known as World Conferences take place once every three years and to this day remain a platform for policy and decision making for Member Organizations.
The First World Conference was instrumental in shaping the collective experience of Girl Guiding and Scouting Scouting, in bringing a number of countries together to share their vision of the movement, shape the future and direction of the Guiding and Scouting World — a legacy which continues in our global movement today.
His book, titled Scouting for Boys inspired thousands of boys around the country to join the Movement. Did you know?
